highlights & notes from the wedding:

-getting up at 3:45am - not something i want to do everyday. i was running on pure adrenaline the whole day. i was falling asleep as i was getting my hair done.

-i'm so thankful the weather was more bearable on saturday. nothing compared to thursday & friday! thanks, God!

-uh, so there was a little mishap with jono & hair in unsightly places while we were taking pics before the ceremony at villa montalvo. let's just say i have a feeling almost ALL the shots of the bridesmaids with o were of us laughing our heads off because of the commotion that was going on with jono & the groomsmen behind the photographers. jono has some good friends if they were willing to reach in there to try to help him. and if you were confused about the reference in matt's best man toast, this is what he was talking about.

-no one fainted during the ceremony. o's dad walks her up the aisle, and then when they reach the front, he loudly whispers to her, "do i do it yet?" all of us in the front busted up. o had to tell her dad to wait for p.dan.

-i hadn't seen the ballroom of the palo alto country club since they remodeled, but it's gorgeous now. the bar & the seamless glass - beautiful. and the food - i have to say, it was probably one of the best american-style wedding food i've ever had. salmon & beef were super tender.

-i accidentally took olivia to the men's locker room at the country club. OOPS! we were standing there, confused to why there was a guy washing his hand in the girl's room. so we stood there - o in her wedding dress, me in my bridesmaid dress in shock. then as we were walking out, another man walks in. and then i realize we were in the wrong locker room!! SORRY!

-o's dad's speech. i don't even know how to put words to it. HAHAHAHAHA. i didn't know how i could follow that. o told me to be nice in my toast... i was nice, right?? unfortunately, i couldn't see o while giving my toast since i was on the other side of the room and all these people's heads were in the way, but it's all good.

-major technical difficulties with the slideshow. sorry guys. lots of long awkward sliences with irving standing in the front, unsure of what to do. i don't know what happened, but my laptop was not behaving. praise God we finally got it working.

-more embarrassing ourselves with another song. i think the groomsmen were secretly thanking God that they decided not to do the song with us once they saw us up there making fools of ourselves. thankfully, no videos of our performance this time.

-now you all know what you can do with $5 nicole miller dresses. to be exact, they were $4.80. and you all had doubts! everyone kept commenting on them, asking us where we got them, etc, which really surprised us, since they were practically free. granted, we took them to get altered, and because of that, we had the freedom to do whatever we wanted to the dresses - so i think a lot of people liked how we all did our own individual thing with them. my favorite part was the receipt (which o took from me and stuck proudly in her wedding binder) that says, "you saved $750!" and that, my folks, is called a bargain. i want to see someone try to find cheaper bridesmaid dresses than us!

-got to eat uncle frank's & spend a little time with the couple (& meet their baltimore friends) before they took off for their mini-honeymoon. i was pretty much sleep-walking through all of last night, and didn't go home until around 10:45. many thanks to eva for helping me with, um, some stuff & cleaning up. :)

-all in all, it was a wonderful day, seeing my best friend getting married. got to see a lot of old friends & make new ones too, which is always nice.

i am POOPED. i have literally been awake for 19 hours and 25 minutes. in fact, i shouldn't even be online, but i only turned on my computer to give a very hearty CONGRATULATIONS to mr. & mrs. chu!

hello four-day weekend! although i still have a lot to do. onwards! (christian soldier... marching as to war...)

i got a final bill from my physical therapy clinic, saying that i owe money for some copays. i know i paid my copay at every visit, so i shouldn't have this leftover balance. i called the clinic up, and the guy starts searching through my records to let me know which visits' copays were missing so i could provide them my receipts. except the guy was taking forever. finally he said, "um, you've been here 45 times. it's going to take me a while to find this, can i call you back? i don't want to make you wait any longer on the phone." wow. i didn't even realize myself that i've been there 45 times. and it would have been way more (and counting) if it weren't for my health insurance.

the guy calls back about 4 hours later, and says he can't figure it out, my file is too complicated, so he's just going to waive the charges. hahaha. i found it funny that my file was so complicated that he just gave up and cleared out my balance. i wonder if that'll work elsewhere. :) i did really pay for every visit though.


so wrong. but so funny.



yuck. it's like senior ball all over again. good thing o & jono's ceremony is in the morning because canaan has no a/c and the stage can get hot & stuffy.

and i didn't realize this, but i'm getting two four-day weekends in a row. woohoo!

had quite a productive weekend, and managed to get a lot done on saturday, including:

-going to a bridal shower in the city
-going to the tailor to pick up our dresses (which none of us ended up taking home - the tailor messed up some stuff, and has to fix all our dresses. talk about last minute)
-finishing o & jono's slideshow
-finishing some other tasks for their wedding
-going to karen's stanford mba grad dinner (skipped the actual graduation sat afternoon since i had too much to do - good thing, since i heard it was HOT.)

on sunday, went to grx 11am service since there was no service at canaan. it was a nice change, not having to wake up, get ready as fast as i can, and rush out the door in a blur at 8:15 in the morning. and it was weird driving around with cars on the road, since when i normally leave for church, there are barely any cars out. ran into a whole bunch of people from all parts of life (like when i was standing there, looked up on stage at the worship team, and realized the bassist was a high school friend. also ran into someone i interviewed once for a job in our group. it was a tad awkward since, um, we didn't hire him and hired his friend instead.) went home and bbq'd for father's day, which was fun.

and so comes the countdown to o's wedding! less than one week.

happiness: taking thursday & friday off. wheee!
unhappiness: having to wake up at 4:30 am on saturday. :O

seriously, groomsmen have it way easier than bridesmaids. all they have to do is stand there and look pretty (and they don't have to wake up at the crack of dawn to look pretty). so unfair.

embarrassing

was digging through some old pics for o's slideshow and came across this video from al & hideyo's wedding. embarrassing, but not bad for throwing it together at 11pm the night before. in fact, why am i posting this?! good thing i don't have video of the rest of it. listen to peter's sound effects in the background and notice how he turns the camera around to flash on his face in the middle of the video.




wow, i have a lot to do before o's wedding (hm... including her slideshow), which is in less than 2 weeks! crazy. good thing i had the insight to not sign up to go to canaan's retreat this weekend, i really have lots to do!

stanford sucks :(

going to these famous doctors really hasn't been the greatest experience. the earliest appointment i could get with the second doctor (he's the orthopedic doctor for the niners) for the second opinion (uh, i guess it's actually a third doctor for a third opinion, but i'll just refer to them as my first & second doctor in this post.) is july 12! that's with my dr. office calling them first to try to help me to get an earlier appt. and it's in redwood city. so far away.

so i had to call back my first doctor to make an appt for the week after the second opinion with the second doctor. except when i called them, i didn't even tell them i needed to make an appt in july. i just said i needed to make an appt, and the lady said the first appt available is july 25!

WHAT.THE.HECK.

SO FRUSTRATING.

man, i get two extremes. the private practice with the doctor who messed up my knee and wouldn't listen to me, but was much easier to get appointments with and who actually saw me at every appointment, vs. the famous, mass production doctors who don't give you the time of day unless you are jerry rice, impossible to get appointments, but supposedly knows what they're doing. why can't i find a happy medium? why can't i find an orthopedic doctor who knows what he's doing AND will listen to me AND i can get an appointment with within a reasonable amount of time? is that really too much to ask? somehow, i was able to find that for my toe surgery and my left acl knee surgery.

sigh.

after gracie's bday party, it was about honoring God at worship practice. no pics of our practice :)

after honoring our stomachs on castro (at my usual favorite, queens house), i went off to cuesta park, where ev was participaing in relay for life.

since i couldn't physically be a part of her team, i went over to support her and honor the memory of her mother.


these kids were selling glow sticks as a fundraiser. the boy's sign said they were $1 and $2, so i asked him what was the difference between the two. the little girl, who was holding a glow stick in her hand, went on a spiel about the difference between the two. she closed by saying, this one (the one in her hand) is $3. hm. shady.



yes, that's me holding a stanford blanket. why in the world do i own a stanford blanket (i don't even own a cal one)? to make a long story short, i got hooked up with my current orthopedic doctor through stanford special patient services. at my first appointment, someone from the department met me at the doctor's office and gave me a bunch of free stanfurd stuff, of which the blanket was one of them. i keep it in my trunk since i refuse to bring it into my house :) that night was the first time i broke out the blanket.

went to the doctor this morning. he's sending me off to another doctor for a second opinion. knee saga continues. got another different person (doctor, physician's assistant, etc) who saw me before my actual doctor. so that's literally been a different person every single time ever since my surgery. it must have been a miracle that i somehow got the same doctor every time before my surgery. later, my actual doctor was looking at my knee and said in regards to all my scars, "wow it looks like a porcupine got to your knee." yeah. thanks. i should write up a list of things doctors should not say to patients; i have quite a list now.

i finally got around to getting pictures off my phone. yay for bluetooth, makes it pretty easy to transfer. just never bothered to try it before.

so here are some pics. most are grainy, since the camera quality obviously isn't great.

by the way, check this out for a few minutes of laughs. we almost fell over laughing when we took these pics. in fact, i still can't stop laughing at them. hehe.


this is eon on a slide. i can't remember where i took it - i thought maybe it was the time a bunch of us played tennis together, but the date is labeled as 3/26/05, and since i tore my acl in feb of '05, there's no way i played tennis in march. does this look familiar to anyone?


ummm so.... things you discover when you ditch sunday school and go to the farmers market instead. (yes, o, jono and i got the evil eye from bob when we took off). what we discover is a parade down castro. a parade called, no joke, holy spirit celebration.

so we're not too sure what this parade is all about, but it has all these little girls dressed like queens wearing white dresses (that look like wedding dresses) and these robe things (like in the first picture). this was a truck of little girls dressed up. you can't see it too clearly, but they're all holding sippy cups.




this was some random night at kittoe house. i think for some reason all the guys wanted to see how difficult it was to balance on their forearms. kinda like that random night when a bunch of us were still living at central park when all the guys tried to see if they could stand up from sitting down with their legs crossed indian style without using their arms or hands or moving their feet. jerry was the only guy who could do it (although basically every girl could do it), but insisted every other guy tried so that he wouldn't be the only oddball. haha.


i took this pic of the campanile on one of the nights we went up to berkeley (don't remember which trip, probably one of our eating trips. sigh. i miss the food in berkeley. let's go up again sometime soon!!)
