so my dad is on the board or involved somehow with some taiwanese organization here, and they're sponsoring a concert of this award-winning taiwanese acapella group.
since my dad also happens to be good buddies with the head pastor of jubilee christian center (yeah, seriously. i was surprised when i found out. apparently they go fishing and do other things together) he got them to agree to open up their facilities for this taiwanese group's performance.
and so because of both of those things, my dad has all this pressure to make sure the concert is well-attended. he had to buy a whole mess of tickets, and in return, he's now making me find as many people as possible to attend. the good thing is he's giving away the tickets he bought for free (heh. that's one way to make sure the concert is well-attended). so... anyone want to join me? it's in english (thank goodness), sunday oct 22, 26:30pm. pretty please? give me some company? :) maybe i'll convince my entire community group to make it a free-week and have them all attend. hehehe.

back from SD
we've made it back from sunny SD!
so... don't ask how fast i was driving, but we made it to SD way before our goal of midnight. it wasn't so bad to LA, but those last 1.5 hours to SD were torturous.
got to see good ol' pt (and finally meet his wife!) get married - alinna & i basically had two buddies the entire wedding, loc & christina. sure, we knew a smattering of other cal people, but they mostly were busy with the east bay and other korean folks. seriously, me, al, and christina may have been the only three chinese people there. anyway, was good to see the twins. peter & jenny were also awesome & had a tapioca express bar at their wedding - what a great idea!
the nice thing about the friday wedding was that we had all day saturday to bum around, so we went cake testing with bentao & bonita (even helped them pick their flavors & cake design), hung out with alinna's siblings (brother & sister-in-law), caught the tail end of the cal game (cal really has had asu's number these past couple of years. and stanford really is bad), and had dinner with mike & kim.
sunday, managed to have breakfast with bonita (poor bentao was sick with fever all weekend) before heading up to LA for service to get a head start back up home. watched al sleep during evergreen LA's service (which i was kind of actually thankful for later when i couldn't keep my eyes open to drive anymore and had alinna take over - and to quote al, "NOW you're glad i slept through service!") got stuck in horrible stop-and-go traffic on most of 152... that's the one part of the norcal-socal commute that i really hate.

al & i went through this entire book. yes, this time we brought an actual book with us, although some of the scenarios are so ridiculous, i actually like our own version (where we make up our own scenarios) better.

i left my stomach in berkeley
i haven't visited berkeley much since i graduated & left, but, i have to say, berkeley is wonderful. the weather is great, the food is great, the school is great, the football team is great (granted, the football didn't become great until after we graduated)... :)
went up to berkeley on saturday with maria, joy, and sandy, and we ate our hearts through the city. we didn't get to hit every eatery we wanted to visit, so we'll just have to go to those places next time!
by the way, i have no pictures, since we were too impatient to take pictures before eating. :)
didn't spend much time in southside (only visited sway on telegraph) since there was a cal football game and we wanted to avoid the football traffic as much as possible. so instead, we headed to north berkeley, where we visited gregoire - split the roasted leg of lamb sandwich, potato puffs, and potato gratin. next, we hit love at first bite to fill ourselves on their very delicious cupakes. green tea & strawberry are still my top two favorites there. after that, made the obligatory visit to cheeseboard - both the bakery & pizzeria. not deterred by the one hour meter we had to keep returning to feed, we didn't stop there. hit "gourmet ghetto" a really cute food court in the same area, where we discovered kirala has a to go station. also has a great gelato place, where we filled ourselves on some gelato. we didn't even make it to the 4th street neighborhood area, which is basically like a downtown los gatos in the middle of berkeley.
if you thought we were crazy, not only did we eat at every one of those places, we also came home with our fill of cheeseboard & cupcakes.
sigh.

my allergies have been HORRIBLE these past few days, even after taking medicine. my eyes are totally swollen today, it feels like i've been crying for the past ten hours or something - puffy and itchy and sticky. is there something in the air?

there are a lot of new shows this year that seem very intriguing! i'm interested in the very least in six degrees (jj abrams!), the nine, and heroes. but there are several more on top of that. ack! dont' know what to do.

hooray for saturday
had quite the productive saturday - went up to the city for the entire morning & afternoon with ev & others and managed to pick out both bridesmaid dresses & a wedding dress for ev. hooray!
came back down to have dinner with reni & family. hooray x 2! got to see beth again... so nice to actually see her in person instead of all the pics on reni's xanga (oh, and nice to see reni & maurice too. hehe).
onto pictures! if you want to see pics of bridesmaid/wedding dresses... you'll just have to come to ev's wedding. sorry. :)

me, jean, & amy with beth at their hotel. that's about the farthest i can go in terms of squatting/bending my right knee. it's really bad when i try to squat because i've developed a bad habit of bearing all my weight on my leg leg. same with my bad habit of going up/down stairs. still waiting for that day when i can do everything normally...

free meat, anyone?
i was at safeway and somehow scored my option of a free signature chicken, full rack of ribs, turkey, or meatloaf from their deli section. no idea how i got it, but i'll take it! and of course i'd go for the ribs. the only catch is that i must redeem by 9/25.
now here's the dilemma. given the following:
a) Lost season premier isn't until Oct. 4 (by the way, i heard abc is going with the strategy of 6 straight episodes, 12 week break, and then 17 straight episodes. so that means no lost or 24 for part of nov & all of dec. boo.)
b) 24 season premier isn't until January
c) there's no more alias
d) i'm still in the process of getting kittoe house hooked on prison break
e) i already got all the steaks & meat needed for tomorrow's bbq at my place & cal game (go bears!)
i'm not really sure when i should break out the free meat. plus all my weekends for the rest of sept are booked. any suggestions?
maybe i'll invite the girls who watch gilmore girls over and break it out for the season premier. hahaha... could you imagine... a bunch of girls (& byron) chowing down on meat & ribs and watching gilmore girls.
and the four shows listed are pretty much the only ones i watch consistently, so i'm out of options for using it at any other tv show viewing. hm, that reminds me... i think kittoe house still owes me a meal. :)
