i broke my crutch!
yes, of all people, it would be ME who could figure out how to do it. it's not a huge deal, but somehow, i tore the pad at the bottom of the crutch. which may seem inconsequential except that i'm almost guaranteed to trip or get it caught on something since that is where all the balancing and weight goes. which means i'd fall over. not a good thing, especially since i have 5 more weeks of crutching left to do.
i didn't even do anything, i was going from my bathroom back to the living room, and caught it at a wrong angle on the floor, almost fell over, and then noticed that i tore the thing. sigh.
and i'm sure you're thinking, well, karen's had six knee surgeries, she's bound to have tons of crutches. yeah, except i donated four pairs to my PT clinic last year. i do have one extra set (thank goodness i asked for a new pair of crutches for this surgery. they almost didn't give it to me either). the reason, though, i even asked for a new set is because my extra set is old, and the pads have totally dried out, are itchy, and get caught on my clothes and stuff.
why do these things happen to me?? though i have to admit it's kind of amusing that i found a way to break my crutch. it takes a special talent to do something like this.
