i'm part japanese

okay, that's not true, but apparently most people don't know the japanese connection in my family. my dad's family moved to japan when he was in high school, so he went to high school and college in japan, and graduate school in the US. hence i have family in japan, i have japanese relatives and half-japanese cousins. my dad speaks fluent japanese, which i think helped him a lot back in the 80s when he started IDT with the other co-founders.

i don't really know my relatives in japan since the last (& only) time i was there was, oh, in kindergarten, but i'll finally have a chance to go again in june. my business trip to do all the training is getting settled as we are finally nearing the completion/go-live of phase one of the new system/project.

apparently i'm going on a world tour because right now it looks like i'll have to go to taipei, tokyo, and then haul my butt over to UK. that's a little more traveling than i was expecting, and though it's not 100% confirmed (taipei & tokyo part is pretty much confirmed) that's what it's looking like right now. eesh. anyone going to travel in june? plus i have to take vacation days off before end of june since i'll hit my PTO max, so i was hoping to spend an extra day or two at one of the places. only sucky thing is i'm going to miss both shrie's wedding and maria's graduation celebration. :(
